The Regen Insight Framework

Ensuring rigorous and accurate environmental assessments

Ensuring rigorous and accurate environmental assessments

Powered by our proprietary models that use 1000s of data points per calculation.

Compliant with the GHG protocol

Our rigorous framework, which is compliant with the GHG protocol and ISO 14064-2 standard, quantifies greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and soil carbon storage changes from agricultural practices, enabling farmers, project developers, and carbon certificate buyers to make informed decisions to create a measurable difference in achieving their carbon objectives.

The Regen Insight framework is meticulously examined and has been built on stakeholder feedback to ensure compliance with specific regulations and leading carbon accounting standards.

Precise

Utilising rigorous scientific approaches and a proprietary database, Regen Insight provides trustworthy calculations of GHG emissions and removals, ensuring your farming management practices are accurately quantified.

Transparent

With a public registry and explicit verification process, Regen Insight provides clear and verifiable records of each carbon certificate, allowing stakeholders to track and validate impact of projects with ease.

Simple

Regen Insight's framework transcends traditional measurement, serving as a transformative tool that simplifies the path to project generation. We streamline your administrative process to render intricate carbon certificate generation comprehensible and efficient.

Incorporating co-benefits for comprehensive environmental assessments

Regen Insight’s commitment to precision allows us to quantify and showcase a project’s broader positive impacts, including enhanced biodiversity, in addition to carbon sequestration.

The Technology

Regen Insight's robust calculation

Regen Insight's robust calculation

Leveraging a synergistic blend of manual data entry and automated processes to deliver the most accurate carbon footprint calculations.

1.

Our approach starts with baseline and project data collection, a critical phase where project owners input specific details about their agricultural practices. This granular level of data helps us ensure every aspect of Regen Insight projects are accounted for in our calculations.

2.

Complementing the manual data entry is our advanced automated process. We utilise regional data, meticulously gathered and updated regularly, to contextualise projects within their specific environmental and geographical parameters.

3.

Finally, we harness the power of satellite remote sensing, a sophisticated technology that enables us to track changes and trends over time. This includes observing cover crop presence and on-farm biomass levels, and tracking crop rotation remotely to fill in any remaining gaps and verify the accuracy of previously entered data.

Together, these manual and automated processes form a comprehensive approach that meets the complexity of carbon accounting in agriculture, ensuring Regen Insight's carbon certificate framework remains the gold standard in accuracy and reliability.

What we measure

Our proprietary framework captures a wide array of factors to provide the most accurate and comprehensive carbon footprint assessments.

Crops

We assess the impact of all the crops in a crop rotation, as each species has a different influence on carbon storage and emissions.

Plot Geographies

Our process takes into account the unique geographical features of a project’s terrain, from plot size to soil type, which can all influence a plot’s carbon footprint.

Crop Yields

By tracking crop yields, we can assess the efficiency of agricultural practices and their impact on carbon emissions.

Irrigation

We assess irrigation practices, as the amount of water used and the energy required to distribute it have an impact on one’s carbon footprint.

Cover Crops

Our measurements consider the presence of cover crops, which help to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, improving a farm's carbon sequestration capacity.

Organic Fertiliser

We estimate the impact of the use of organic fertilisers, taking into account their benefits for soil carbon storage and the carbon balance of their implementation.

Mineral Fertiliser

We evaluate the use of mineral fertilisers, which, although beneficial for crop growth, make a significant contribution to a farm’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Tillage

We measure the extent and nature of tillage activities to calculate the emissions produced from the energy consumption of the farming machinery involved.
